Founded in 1970 to help promote foreign trade, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) is the foremost non-profit trade promotion organization in Taiwan . Jointly sponsored by the government, industry associations, and several commercial organizations, TAITRA assists Taiwan businesses and manufacturers with reinforcing their international competitiveness and in coping with the challenges they face in foreign markets.

TAITRA boasts a well-coordinated trade promotion and information network of over 600 trained specialists stationed throughout its Taipei headquarters, four local branch offices in Hsinchu, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung, and over 52 overseas branch offices worldwide. Together with its sister organizations, Far East Trade Services, Inc. (FETS) and Taipei World Trade Center (TWTC), TAITRA has created a wealth of trade opportunities through effective promotion strategies.

Collects and makes available global trade information to Taiwan enterprises.
Publishes Chinese and English language periodicals and reference books: International Trade Biweekly, Taiwan Products Magazine , Taiwan Exporters/Taiwan Importers Directory, Doing Business with Taiwan .
Researches, writes and disseminates important news on market trends and developments.

Administers a national trade website portal, www.taiwantrade.com.tw, to provide online marketing, trade-matching and value-added information services.
Host online services for: trade missions, trade shows, eProcurement and sourcing.
Offers customer service via Call Center .
Shares Net and market knowledge through seminars and educational training.

Organizes Taipei International Trade Shows.
Manages the Taipei World Trade Center Exhibition Halls and the Taipei Nangang Exhibition Center .
Provides venue and facility rental services for trade show organizers.

Operates the Taipei International Convention Center .
Furnishes comprehensive convention planning and technical backup.

Coordinates Taiwan construction and healthcare services for overseas needs.
Plans global promotion and branding for Taiwan chain stores and franchise corporations.
Provides custom travel assistance for foreign business people featuring specialty tours and packages.
Builds alliances between Taiwan logistics industries and overseas or domestic businesses to strengthen international competetiveness.
Boosts Taiwan software industry via international exhibitions, seminars and software related promotional activities.
